A Calling That Would Not Let Go

Rev. Rita Loyola is an ordained minister of the Gospel holding an MDiv from Western Theological Seminary where she is also pursuing a Doctor of Ministry focused on the revitalization of the Church through the power of the Holy Spirit. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rita’s journey to Kenya was not a career path. It was a calling.

Over the past several years she has traveled back and forth between the United States and Kenya, giving herself fully to the people of Nairobi and Kisumu. Pastors without training. Children without schools. Families without hope. Communities longing for the freedom that only the Gospel can bring.

Her Heart for Kenya

In many rural and urban parts of Kenya, poverty, corruption, exploitation, and hopelessness continue to devastate families and entire communities. Young girls are pushed into early marriage. Families sell land for pennies in desperation. Children cannot afford school fees.

Rita has seen all of this firsthand. And she has stayed.

She believes and has witnessed that where Christ is faithfully proclaimed and leaders are trained in Scripture, communities begin to change. Churches become places of refuge. Children remain in school. Women are protected and treated with dignity. Families regain hope.

Her Work in Kenya

Rita serves in the theological equipping of pastors and lay leaders across rural Kenya. She leads home fellowship groups for discipleship in Kisumu and Nairobi, conducts street evangelism in the most impoverished regions, visits village schools and advocates for girls education, and distributes food and mercy relief to vulnerable families.

In October 2024 she launched the Theological Training Center, Kisumu Site, now serving over 60 registered pastors and leaders at no cost to participants. Every session is funded entirely by the generosity of ministry partners.

Her Sacrifice

For years Rita gave sacrificially from her own income to fund the ministry work in Kenya. It was a labor of love that reflected her deep commitment to the people she serves. Following a season of organizational transition in 2024, Rita now relies entirely on the generous partnership of churches and individuals who believe in this mission. She continues to serve with the full support of her ordaining body and remains deeply grateful for the relationships God has built through the Alliance of Reformed Churches.
